Candice Nembhard is a writer, poet and journalist from Birmingham based in Berlin.

With a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia, Candice established literary and arts magazine Underpass, which platformed and championed local artists and writers within the city of Norwich. She is also the co-founder of the creative collective, Poet & Prophetess Рan initiative dedicated to supporting, sharing and producing writers/artists of colour.

In 2012, her short story ‘Kaleidoscope Eyes’ was published by The Gentlemen Press and presented at Birmingham Book Festival. In 2016, her poetry series ‘X’ was presented in the creative writing anthology, Undertow, printed by Eggbox Publishing. Candice has facilitated creative writing workshops, discussion groups, spoken on panels and worked with local, community radio stations in Berlin.

As a journalist, Candice has gone onto write for the likes of Highsnobiety, The Norwich Radical, Berlin Art Link and Sleek. Her primary interests are race relations, decolonization, gender and sexuality, womanism, music, Black British literature, contemporary art and pop culture.

She is currently working on her first solo collection of poetry.
