Candice Nembhard (okcandice) is a writer, editor, poet, interdisciplinary artist, curator, and archivist based in Birmingham and Berlin. Bylines include Sleek Magazine, Berlin Art Link, The Norwich Radical, Highsnobiety, and YEOJA Magazine. Her work has also been published by The Gentlemen Press, Eggbox Publishing, and SAND Journal.
Her creative practice is informed by queer Afro-Caribbeans, migrant mothers, black lesbian feminists, black Britons, Afro-Europeans, storytellers, and Jamaican folklore.
Candice is also the founder & curator of the ALL FRUITS RIPE event series, founder of The Black Borough archive, co-founder of the creative consulting agency Poet & Prophetess, and co-producer of The R.A.P Party Berlin.
She is currently an artist-curator at Birmingham’s Eastside Projects.
